Message ...and that's what I thought we were doing...

Yes, I started the post in a self-deprecating way ONLY because I knew I'd get a few knee-jerk reactions as soon as I said the word Maaco. And maybe my searching techniques aren't as good as yours, but there does NOT seem to be a huge number of Z's for sale - and yes, I probably *would* have made the trip to CA for a car with a bad paint job (but in decent mechanical condition), if for nothing else, the road trip home... :-) I wanted a green, 2+2 NA (didn't want a TT, and the 2+2 is a nod toward the fact that I have a kid - a skinny one, thankfully - who might have to sit in the back occasionally. :-)

I did NOT know (at the time) that the '94 and '95 (that I owned in the late 90's) was a DIFFERENT green. And considering the fact that (a) I don't give a crap about resale value, (b) *any* kind of repainting will *improve* this car's appearance, (c) it's a close enough green not to cause concern when I look at the door panels, and (d) it was already 95% the car I wanted, I'm going to go ahead with the Cobalt Green repainting. It's not worth it to me to sell this and buy another one that's a few shades lighter. Now if I wanted a *completely* different color, I'd most likely reconsider... or wouldn't have bought this one in the first place if there had been a reasonable alternative.

It was not my intention to ask for alternatives and then ignore them. What I was looking for, were points of view that I hadn't already considered. And sorry, but I haven't found any so far...

Maybe my last post entitled 'perspective' makes my point a little better...?
